Tortilla Jackson is a Latin soul band that plays the music of Willie Bobo, Charles Wright, Hugh Masakela, and others. Their first show was opening for Mavis Staples at Bloomington’s Buskirk-Chumley Theater and they have since brought the funk to WFHB’s Local Live, WFIU’s Swing in September, the Orbit Room, and the Blockhouse.

Current projects are geared toward telling the stories of people from various identity groups living in rural Indiana, exploring revolutionary praxis through music, and reimagining the Latin soul band as an art music ensemble. Their debut album of original music is around the corner, so stay tuned!
